It is better to travel hopefully than to arrive

Proverbial Meaning: Sometimes striving to achieve a goal is more exciting than achieving a goal (which is why we often try for new goals when this happens).

Literal Origins: When we travel, to go on holiday for instance, the anticipation and the getting there can be as much fun, or more, than actually arriving. Or, once we have achieved our goals, obtained the object of our desires, we can feel disappointed - it's an anticlimax.

Common Usage: This proverb is fairly well-known, but is often quoted in regard to actual travelling rather than it's more metaphorical meaning.
