PDF Print E-mail

Proverbial Meaning: Unless individuals are given a specific, clear task within the group they are working with, everyone will believe that someone else is responsible and the task or task will be neglected.

Literal Origins: If a job belongs to everybody, then it does not belong to any one individual.

Common Usage: This proverb is commonly used, though it’s purpose may sometimes be misconstrued into meaning something to do with being nosey.
