A good conscience is a soft pillow

Proverbial Meaning: A person who is free of evil deeds and thought, full of virtue, will have no enemies and nothing to fear so will be able to sleep well at night, where a criminal or spiteful person will not.

Literal Origins: Comparisons are made between a soft pillow and a head empty of guilt and malice being ideal for a good night’s sleep.

Common Usage: This proverb is not used by and large in conversation, but may be found in literature.
