Old shoes are easiest

PDF Print E-mail

Proverbial Meaning: Tried and tested ways of doing things are often easier, less hassle.

Literal Origins: Old, well-worn shoes are easier to wear and, although they may not look as nice as new ones, usually much more comfortable.

Common Usage: This proverb is not very well-known but its sentiment is easily recognised by anyone who's lived long enough to become accustomed to certain ways of doing things and had someone try to get them to do things a different way.
