Literal Origins: Taking the risk of stealing some fruit and getting it for free can be exhilarating because of the naughtiness and the adrenaline and literally make the fruit taste better because of it.

Common Usage: This proverb is fairly well-known, and is almost identical in meaning to the much more common contraction of: Forbidden fruit is sweetest.
